How Can I Know I’m Saved?

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.” — John 3:36 (ESV)

Many Christians quietly wrestle with the same fear: What if I’m not really saved?

Some doubt because they still struggle with sin. Others doubt because they do not feel spiritually strong enough. And some simply wake up one day overwhelmed by fear that they may somehow lose their salvation.

If that describes you, you are not alone.

Salvation Rests on Christ, Not Your Feelings

One of the biggest mistakes we make is measuring salvation by emotion.

Some days you may feel close to God. Other days you may feel numb, distracted, or spiritually dry. But your feelings are not the foundation of your salvation. Jesus is.

Scripture does not say, “Whoever feels saved is saved.” It says whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.

The question is not whether your emotions are perfect. The question is whether your trust is in Christ.

True Believers Still Struggle

Many people assume that if they still battle temptation or sin, they must not truly belong to God.

But the very grief you feel over sin is often evidence that the Holy Spirit is at work in you.

Before salvation, sin rarely bothered us deeply. After salvation, we begin to hate the things that separate us from God.

God Keeps Those Who Belong to Him

Jesus gives incredible comfort to believers:

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish.” (John 10:27–28 ESV)

Your salvation is held together by the faithfulness of Christ.

A Prayer for Today

Lord, thank You that my salvation rests in Your grace and not my performance. Help me trust Your promises even when my feelings waver. Amen.
