Joshua stood at a threshold. Moses was gone, the people needed leadership, and the land ahead held real opposition. God’s instruction to be strong and courageous did not mean Joshua would face no trouble. It meant that he would not face the assignment alone.
We often want a complete map before we obey. We would like to know how a conversation will end, whether an application will succeed, or how a new responsibility will unfold. Yet much of faithful living takes place one step at a time.
Courage is not pretending fear does not exist. It is bringing fear into the presence of God’s promises and choosing the next right action. Joshua was called to meditate on God’s instruction, not merely to gather confidence from his own abilities.
Identify one task you have delayed because the outcome feels uncertain. Pray over it, seek wise counsel where needed, and take one responsible step. The future belongs to God; today’s obedience belongs to us.
Sometimes the next step is not dramatic. It may be telling the truth, apologizing, making a phone call, or beginning a task you have avoided. Small acts of courage matter because faithfulness is measured by obedience, not by the size of the audience.
Reflect and Respond
Where does this passage meet your life today? What is one specific way you can put its teaching into practice before the day ends? Bring that decision to God in prayer, asking Him for both wisdom and a willing heart. Faith grows through repeated, ordinary responses to His Word.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for speaking through Scripture and for meeting us in everyday life. Help us receive Your truth with humility, trust You with what we cannot control, and act with love toward those around us. Shape our hearts to reflect Jesus today. In His name, amen.
