How to Pray for a Miracle

“In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” — Philippians 4:6 (ESV)

The Bible gives us every reason to bring impossible situations to God. He opened seas, healed the sick, provided in impossible circumstances, and raised the dead.

So how should we pray when we need a miracle?

Ask Boldly and Surrender Honestly

First, ask. Tell God specifically what you need. Jesus taught His followers to pray, and Scripture repeatedly invites us to bring our requests to God.

But biblical prayer is not a formula for controlling the outcome.

Jesus prayed in Gethsemane with complete honesty and complete surrender: He expressed what He desired and entrusted the final answer to the Father.

We can do the same.

Pray believing God is able. Pray remembering that He is good. Pray persistently. Ask other believers to pray with you.

Then leave room for God to answer according to His wisdom.

Faith is not believing God must do exactly what we request. Faith is believing He remains God whether His answer is yes, no, or wait.

Sometimes the miracle is the circumstance changing. Sometimes the miracle is strength we did not know we could have, peace that makes no sense, or grace sufficient for another day.

Bring God the impossible. Just do not confuse trusting His power with demanding your preferred outcome.

A Prayer for Today

Father, You know the miracle I am asking for. I believe You are able, and I bring my request boldly to You. Give me faith to ask, patience to wait, and trust to receive Your answer according to Your wisdom. Amen.
