What Is Spiritual Warefare?
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” — Ephesians 6:11 (ESV)
Spiritual warfare can sound mysterious, but Paul describes it in very practical terms. Christians live in a world where lies, temptation, accusation, fear, and evil are real. We need God’s strength to stand faithfully.
Put On God’s Armor
Ephesians 6 describes truth, righteousness, readiness from the Gospel, faith, salvation, God’s Word, and prayer as armor.
Notice that these are not magical objects. They are realities God gives His people.
We resist lies by knowing truth. We resist accusation by remembering our salvation. We resist temptation by using Scripture. We stand firm through faith and remain watchful in prayer.
Spiritual warfare is not an invitation to become obsessed with the devil. Paul directs our attention toward God and what He provides.
The believer’s confidence is not, “I am strong enough.” It is, “God has equipped me to stand.”
This also means we should not treat every inconvenience as a demonic attack. Scripture calls us to sober awareness, not fear or superstition.
The enemy may scheme, but Christ has already won the decisive victory. Our task is to remain rooted in truth and faithful to Jesus.
A Prayer for Today
Lord, clothe me with Your truth and strengthen me to stand faithfully. Guard my mind from lies, my heart from fear, and my choices from temptation. Help me remain alert in prayer and confident in the victory that belongs to Christ. Amen.
